The subsequent cable car ride up to Rosswald offers views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Depending on your arrival time, there are various hikes on the first day: a challenging summit tour on old military trails to the Folluhorn or a leisurely circular hike with views of the Rhone Valley.
In the evening, dinner awaits you in a restaurant on the Alpe Rosswald, in the immediate vicinity of your accommodation.
You will spend the night in a shared room in the charming Valais Alpstyle group house on the Alpe Rosswald.

The hike from Rosswald to the Bortelhütte is a pleasant tour with a distance of around 6.5 km. After a short refreshment break at the Bortelhütte, we recommend that you continue the ascent to Bortelsee . The lake is located above the Bortelhütte and below the Bortelhorn.

Hike to the Simplon Pass and individual departure
From the Bortelhütte, you hike along a well-marked mountain hiking trail in the direction of Rothwald/Wasenalp. The old larch forest through which you hike is enchanting at any time of year, but especially in autumn with its colors.
For your lunch break, we recommend a detour to the idyllic Wasmerseeli. The lake is surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop and is the ideal place for a break.
After refreshments at Wasmerseeli, it's not far to the Simplon Pass. The trail leads past alpine roses and blueberry bushes. You soon reach the imposing, 9-metre-high golden eagle, the symbol of the Simplon Pass. After a short rest on the Simplon Pass, you set off on your individual departure.
